Fluoride is a naturally occurring element found in water. It may be added in controlled amounts to drinking water. A level of 1.0 mg/L in drinking water is sufficient to reduce dental caries without harmful effects on health. At excessively high levels fluorosis may occur.

Sample Submission

You may request a sample container from any of our health district offices during normal business hours. Specify that you want a fluoride analysis when picking up containers. Collect your sample from the same tap as you draw your drinking water. Return your sample to the laboratory or other health district office as soon as possible. Results will be sent by mail when analysis is complete.
